Justice Connection Responds to DOJ Suspension of Erez Reuveni

WASHINGTON — Justice Connection founder and executive director Stacey Young issued the below statement today in response to the Justice Department’s suspension of Erez Reuveni, the acting deputy director of the department’s Office of Immigration Litigation.

“Erez Reuveni has zealously represented the United States in some of the most high-stakes and controversial immigration cases under the Obama, Trump, and Biden administrations. At every turn, he’s defended his clients with great skill and integrity – never as a loyalist or partisan, but because he believes in the rule of law. Justice Department attorneys are being put in an impossible position: Obey the president, or uphold their ethical duty to the court and the Constitution. We should all be grateful to DOJ lawyers who choose principle over politics and the rule of law over partisan loyalty.”

Justice Connection is a network of DOJ alumni mobilizing to support DOJ employees who are under attack. Those alumni are working around the clock to assist their former colleagues who’ve reached out for help.

Justice Connection will continue speaking out about what’s happening to DOJ’s workforce, especially when it’s too dangerous for those in the trenches to do it themselves. Reporters want to be able to hear directly and on the record from federal employees—and when that isn’t possible, Justice Connection is here to bridge the gap.
